Really?

Tonight was our second and last PTA meeting of the year. Just two meetings a year to find out what's going on in your child's school. Only two meetings to give your input, ask questions, and hold up our end of the partnership in teaching our kids. It was also the night for nominations for next years board. Every position had to be filled because the incumbents have served their "term limits.".

Please guess how many parents were in attendance. Other than the board members and the vice principal, how many parents of students, grades K-6th, were present tonight?

One. Me. Uno. I had to take Cole and Brad with me, but I was the lone parent there to find out what I could do to help the people who see my child longer in the day than I do. It's almost comical if it didn't break my heart.

I really like to be there for all the school events, and have thought of serving. With new baby due just as school starts I figured I was going to sit out next year. Now I'm all kinds of fired up to step in and shake up some parents. Time to do some serious thinking and praying.

The focus on most of the topics tonight were focused on budget cuts that will take effect next year. This is terribly upsetting to hear the speculations of things that will be changing. Honestly. I'm sick to my stomach to think of the mockery of Jerry's World compared to firing two teachers per grade level. Adults willing to pay $800 a ticket but can't send in $1 for a Valentine's Day party. Class sizes of 30 will be the norm. Kindergarten will more than likely go to two teachers and half days. They will have am and pm. Personally, my eyes widened a bit for Brad's sake, but two teachers cramming a years worth of material into 88 children 3 hours a day?

Sigh. Where's our focus in this world?

Signing off, maybe possibly future PTA board member/volunteer

Open letter to my dogs

Mickey and Merlin,

You know I love you. If fact you know I'm the only person in this house that loves you. I am soley responsible for feeding you, giving you fresh water, and letting you out. I bathe you, trim your hair, and get someone else to cut your nails. I am the only person in the world on top of your health and shot upkeep. I share my bed with you, giving you a dang third of the king size bed. I wake up in the middle of the night to take you outside. If I didn't we would have to lock you in a crate at night.

My question is, WHY? Why do I do it? I don't like waking to take you out to immediately turn around and step in fresh poo. I don't enjoy cleaning fresh poo off my floors and feet at o dark thrity. If fact, it makes me want to lock you out for a very long time.

I know you are old and frail, but please consider this a warning. I'm tempted to start treating you like..... Like..... DOGS!

Love, your trained owner

Bon Voyage!

Yippie!! We booked our cruise with the Thomas' last night! I'm very excited. Now I just have to work out all the details like childcare and plane tickets.

By the way, did you know you have to have a fit for travel letter to cruise when you're pregnant? AND, you're not allowed to cruise past 24 weeks. That's a bit early if you ask me, but what do I know. Now I better get to shopping for my maternity bathing suits! I should save money and just pull out my old bikinis.

Speaking of, we've been listening to California Girls a lot. A.Lot. Brad came up to me and said to me in a whisper "I know what tininies are!" They are this..." and points to his privates. Oh, baby. They are saying bikinis and it's a girls bathing suit. Your private area down there is your penis and girls have something different. He looked confused and walked away. I should have left him thinking girls have tininies.

Last night we took the kids to dinner. Cole's choice: Olive Garden. Is he completely rotten that Olive Garden is his favorite place at 7 years of age? I think so. Good thing he's cute. We got lots of yummy gift cards for Christmas. I thought I was going to save them for after the baby, but that promise didn't last. My stash is considerably smaller than in December. Dang January.

Cole is serious about soccer again. He found out that Messi is a left footed player like him and is all pumped up about practicing day and night. We are trying to encourage him to try baseball as well. He says no. I have mixed feelings about exposing him to more and not getting burnt out. Then I remember he's only 7 and go about thinking of more important things.... like, there's Olive Garden left overs for lunch. YUMMY!

8 weeks

Pants no longer fit. In maternity clothes. Lovely.

We've narrowed down a list on names. We are telling Papa Sir that "Blaze" is at the top of the list. I think he's buying it. He said he will call CPS. Blaze it is.

We are also thinking of not finding out the sex of this baby. It will be a surprise to all!

Slightly Worried..... Whew!

The boys have been greatly influenced by the girls across the street. Cole LOVES playing in Maggie's room with her while rocking out to Taylor Swift. The love has spread to hanging out at home while rocking out to Taylor Swift.

Brad has taken a liking to Sophie's new toys. They are called Squinkies and they're right up Brad's alley. They are tiny tiny little plastic figures that you can purchase by the 100's. Each come in a tiny bubble and are perfect for a child with a strong attachment to all things small. For Christmas BOTH boys asked for Squinkies.

You know, they are sold in the "girl" aisle of the toy stores. I can't believe how all things change to pink and purple by just moving over one aisle over from the legos. It's crazy. The boys wanted Squinkies and their loved ones delivered. Aunt Kimi even bought them a cool little case for them. For a half a second, I wondered if I should please their request, but then I figured it was silly to think a boy couldn't play with Squinkies as well.

The other night any doubt I might have had about the cross gender toy were put to rest when I found Brad, a pair of scissors, and this:

He decapitated all the girl Squinkies. He's gonna make a great big brother!

Enough Already!

Today is January 6,2011. Today also marks the 5th Dr. appointment we've had in 2011. I always have been so thankful for healthy children. I think my children have thrown up less than 5 times each their whole lives. Cole has had 1 ear infection ever. Brad (up until 2011) only had one. Now he's on his 3rd. I had to go buy a thermometer the other day because I didn't own one. That's how fever-free we've been.

I woke up New Year's Day with half my face swollen. My eye was sealed shut and pain radiated down my neck. It seems I got a staph infection inside my face. Lovely. Lots of waiting in the clinic, lots of shots, lots of pills.

Brad's been sick, and coughing. I took him back this morning. He's now on 3 different prescriptions.

And now, my ode to Tricare. I love you. Thank you. The End. Honestly, each time I pick up a prescription and see how much insurance saved me, my jaw hits the floor. We never have a copay, and I've never had issues getting seen. Unless you count getting into the ophthalmologist for Brad. We're going on 7 months. Other than that, Tricare gets all my love and praise. Well, I give it to God for providing us Tricare Prime. I'm also thankful we haven't had major issues that needed to battle the insurance company.

Thank you Keith for working and providing us medical insurance. I promise to feed our family more garlic to keep us healthier. You know, I have always attributed that to our good health, and looking back we've been eating out a bunch. GARLIC ASAP!

Love, The Stinky McD's

Numero Tres

We are expecting a baby! Number 3 is on it's way and the whole family is excited. Some more than others. Brad told our neighbor "mommy is growing a boy" and they both only want a brother. We took the boys to Samurai for a special lunch when we told them. Cole kept asking "really?" and gave me a big hug as we were leaving.

They have also already been discussing baby names. Keith and I agree on a girl's name, so naturally it will be a boy. Cole likes Rolaldinho, but then remembered that's his name. His second choice is Messi. Keith is still stuck on Zane, and I refuse to wrap my head around that one. They've collectively agreed upon Rhino. Lord, please help me!

Pregnancy brain is in full effect. I honestly should not be allowed in public unassisted. I am only 5 weeks along and so far:

*I left the car running when I got out and wondered where the keys were
*I left my bag of items I just purchased at the counter at Wallgreens and walked off
*I have missed Brad's speech appointments 3 times in 2 weeks
*I put my watch on upside down and freaked out when I went to read it because I thought I was late to pick up Brad. Ten minutes later I looked down and freaked out again. THEN I decided to flip it around.
*I packed my suitcase for Dallas and only put one shoe in the bag only to discover that fact in Dallas.
*I have misplaced my phone so many times, I have given up looking and wait for Keith to find it. You know when Keith is the good-finder in the house, it's serious.

I'm positive that I will have many many more examples of my brain farts for your entertainment pleasures all the way till September 1st! Stay tuned!
